The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is a not-for-profit association composed of representatives from government, industry, and consumer groups. Among the fifty seven different areas of specialization are climate change, business management and safety and performance standards, including those for electrical and electronic equipment, industrial equipment, boilers and pressure vessels, compressed gas handling appliances, environmental protection, and construction materials. CSA also provides advisory services, training materials and print and electronic published standard documents.
In order to help petroleum and natural gas companies evaluate and respond appropriately to security threats, the CSA has put together a set of standards focusing on security, more specifically CSA Standard Z246.1-09 titled Security Standards for Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry Systems. To ensure that these standards are adequately covered and distributed, the CSA has teamed with leading industry security professionals to prepare the training you are currently taking. This training is based on the premise that potential and actual security threats should be managed using risk and performance-based management processes.
This class will take you through the Standards, and help you to identify how to properly setup and execute a Security Management Process or SMP. The training also identifies specific security risk reduction measures to be implemented.
